NCTU Micro-orifice Cascade Impactor (NMCI)

NMCI is a 10-stage cascade inertial impactor for measuring aerosol mass size distribution in ambient atmospheric, exhaust stacks, and workplaces, which operates at the flow rate of 30 L/min and measures particles in the size ranges of 56 nm to 18 μm. The collected samples can further be analyzed for chemical compositions to obtain the size distribution of chemical species. In the NMCI, new nozzle plates with smooth nozzle shape are used to replace those in the 7th-10th stages in the MOUDI. The patented nozzles of the NMCI (7th-10th stages) have little particle loss under long-term sampling conditions, and can be cleaned easily by ultrasonication without nozzle breakage.
